Viagra: all the common questions answered in this FAQ

What is Viagra used to treat?

This is the standard treatment given to relieve the problem of erectile dysfunction. But note that it only treats erectile dysfunction as a symptom. It does not treat the usual underlying causes. You need separate treatment for the causes.

What is erectile dysfunction?

This is a failure to achieve an erection on a regular basis over a reasonable period of time or a regular failure of the erection before you ejaculate.

Is Viagra suitable for everyone?

Erectile dysfunction does not usually affect younger men. If it does, this is usually psychological rather than physical which does not respond to any of the erectile dysfunction drugs. So, although some men are allergic to Viagra, most men can use it successfully. If you have recently had a stroke or heart attack, you should have a physical check before resuming sexual activity. Also, some of the drugs used to treat heart problems cause problems when mixed with Viagra. You should also get advice if you have liver or kidney disease.

What precautions should you take?

As with most of the prescription only drugs, Viagra can interact adversely with other drugs. So, before you buy, give a complete list of all the drugs, vitamins and supplements you take to your physician or pharmacist. In particular, avoid mixing Viagra with any drug containing a nitrate. Note that excessive quantities of alcohol and Viagra can cause a sudden and potentially dangerous drop in your blood pressure.

What dose should you take?

In general, you should only take the dose prescribed or recommended by your pharmacist. You should not increase the dose without an expert confirming it will be safe. If you take too much, it can produce unpleasant side effects. So, if the first use does not work, do not suddenly increase the dose the second time. Always discuss changes to the dose with a doctor or pharmacist. The fact the drug is not working may suggest the underlying causes are more serious and require a different treatment.

What are the side effects?

The majority of men take Viagra without experiencing any adverse effects. Only a few have problems and, mostly, they are mild and will pass away quickly. The less serious are equivalent to the symptoms you will get with the common cold. More serious are a painful erection that will not go away, and increasingly feeling faint with chest pains.

Viagra Information

Why is Viagra trusted around the world?

Launched in 1998, Viagra was alone on the market until 2003. No other manufacturer was able to duplicate its success. Although two new drugs arrived in 2003, they have remained second best. Viagra remains the best-selling drug for the treatment of erectile dysfunction.

If you go to your regular physician, get a prescription and go into your local pharmacy, you're locked into the fixed retail prices set by the manufacturer. But, by using this site, you get access to a competitive situation in which several online pharmacies pitch their prices for sale of the tablets and their shipping. Now you can quickly compare and contrast their offers, and buy Viagra at the best possible price.

That said, there's a further advantage. If you only look to buy within the United States, you are prevented from buying the generic version sold under the name Sildenafil citrate. But if you buy online, the international pharmacies sell Viagra's generic version at a heavily discounted price. The branded and generics are exactly the same although, in some cases, the shape and color may differ slightly.
